American Basset Bred for Size & Temperament
Meet KC, a charming American Basset Hound born and in Diamond, Missouri by a reputable home kennel known for breeding healthy and loving pet-type Bassets. We have a soft spot for home kennels because the dogs are treated like family members rather than breeding machines. KC and Tucker are our only dogs, and they receive our undivided attention, living like royalty under our care.
We chose KC for her unique size and striking tri-color coat of red, brown, and white. Her temperament is equally impressive, with a loving and affectionate nature that always seeks human companionship. She has a calm disposition and remarkable intelligence, making her an ideal companion for any family. Her smaller size also means she's less prone to the typical back and hip problems that afflict many Bassets, and she's healthy with no chronic ear issues
We strive to produce the perfect Basset Hound through careful breeding practices. By combining the best traits of both American Basset Hound and European Basset Hounds to produce puppies with excellent health, a friendly disposition, and stunning physical features.
The primary difference between an American Basset Hound and a European Basset Hound is their physical appearance. European Basset Hounds tend to have a more substantial build, with shorter legs and a broader head, while American Basset Hounds are typically taller with longer legs and a slimmer build.
Additionally, European Basset Hounds are often bred for their hunting ability and have a more independent and strong-willed personality. On the other hand, American Basset Hounds are bred primarily as companion dogs and have a more laid-back and sociable personality.
Another significant difference is their breeding standards. The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes only the American Basset Hound breed standard, while in Europe, there are different breed standards depending on the country. For example, French Basset Hounds have shorter legs and are bred specifically for hunting.
In summary, while American and European Basset Hounds share many similarities, their differences in physical appearance, personality, and breeding standards make them distinct breeds
